SUMMARY
Windows has a security feature that blocks files downloaded from the internet to protect your system from potentially malicious content. When a file is blocked, it can prevent you from opening or executing it, which can be inconvenient if you know the file is safe. Unblocking the file tells Windows that you trust the source and are allowing it to be used on your computer.
This tech note will guide you through the process of unblocking a downloaded file.
APPLIES TO
- Windows Operating System
PROCEDURE
- Right-click on the downloaded file.
- Select Properties from the context menu.
- In the General tab, you’ll see a checkbox or button (depending on the OS version) labeled Unblock at the bottom (if the file is blocked).
