How to upgrade AVEVA Edge HMI to a newer version

How to upgrade the AVEVA Edge installation to a newer version.

PROCEDURE

Upgrading the product installation

1. Fully uninstall AVEVA Edge using the Windows Control Panel.

2. Proceed to install the newer version. Installation media is available on our Downloads page.

Note that any existing license will not be changed or removed.

3. After updating the product installation, please open any existing project in the AVEVA Edge Studio and run the Verify tool to update the project version as well. (Saving a backup copy of the project is recommended as a best practice).

4. To update a remote Embedded HMI or IoTView installation running AVEVA Edge, please manually transfer the newer version of the appropriate CEServer.exe (Remote Agent) utility and then connect with Remote Management to ‘install runtime files’.

Upgrading the license installation

• To update the license version generally a License Upgrade needs to be purchased, unless the existing license is covered by a valid Customer First Support Agreement that allows to maintain the product updated to the most recent version while the agreement is active.
