Unable to install Communication Drivers Pack 2023 R2

SUMMARY

When attempting to install additional 2023 R2 Communication Drivers on a computer that has other AVEVA software installed, all of the drivers are greyed out and cannot be selected on the installation menu.

CAUSE

If Patch 01 has been applied to the 2023 R2 installation, the attempt to install additional Communication Drivers detects the patch as a newer version and will not allow you to install the older drivers.  This occurs whether you try to install from either the System Platform 2023 R2 install media or Communication Drivers Pack 2023 R2 install media.

RESOLUTION

To workaround the installation issue, launch the install wizard from the Windows Control Panel instead of the Setup.exe on the install media.

1. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features

2. Double-click on AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack 2023 R2 P01.  This will launch the install wizard.

3. Select Modify.

4. The Communication Drivers will now be selectable for installation.
