Installation Instructions

Note: it is important to follow the sequence of instructions in the order they are presented.

For a clean installation of Tableau Server please refer to the 'Installing the Dashboard Server' section of the InstallationGuide.chm that is located in the Wonderware Intelligence CD.

For a Tableau Server upgrade you can follow the following steps:

Upgrade the Dashboard Server

1.    Read all the instructions presented here before proceeding with the upgrade to the dashboard server. This is very important to help familiarize oneself with the nuances of the upgrade.

2.    When actually performing the upgrade, follow the guidelines listed in the Upgrading Tableau Server (Knowledge Base). These instructions should be reviewed beforehand as well.

3.    IMPORTANT: While performing the uninstallation of the previous version and while performing the installation of the new version of the Dashboard Server, please make sure to stop the ArchestrA License Server service if present on the computer.  Otherwise, the uninstallation program may hang, in which case you will have to reboot the server, and you might lose all your previous configuration.

4.    Go to add/remove programs in Windows and uninstall the previous version of Tableau Server. Failure to do so will result in the installer prompting for uninstallation of the current dashboard server and forcing a second upgrade sequence. The uninstall will safeguard the server configuration and published dashboard/worksheets.

5.    Run the executable DashboardServerPrimary-9.1.0-xxbit.exe as an administrator and proceed with install process.

Upgrade the Intelligence Analytics Client

1.    Go to Add/remove programs in Windows uninstall the previous version of Intelligence Analytics Client. (This is not technically required, when upgrading from a prior version it will install 9.1 'side by side', setting the 9.1 version as the default.)

2.    Run the executable AnalyticsClient-9.1.0-xxbit.exe as an administrator and proceed with install process.

3.    Open the Intelligence Analytics Client. If your license is expired, it will ask you to enter a valid license key.

4.    When opening a preexisting workbook is opened, a dialog will appear reminding you that the workbook will be upgraded when it is saved.
