About this Release

This document contains important information about Wonderware Operations Integration - SNMP OI Server G-2.1 (Version 1.4). Review this document for new features, tested hardware and software environments, and other server information.

New Features and Enhancements

This release of the SNMP OI Server provides the following new SNMP features:

Support for SNMP v3

The SNMP OI Server supports the SNMP v3 protocol, in addition to existing support for SNMP v1 and v2. For up-to-date information about product compatibility and features, refer to the Wonderware Compatibility Matrix, available at the Schneider Electric Global Customer Support website:

SNMP Station Authentication

The SNMP authentication allows you to configure the security setting for every station. This feature is available only for SNMP v3, and if the security level is set to Authentication only or Authentication and Privacy.

• The SNMP OI Server supports only DES encryption.
• The SNMP OI Server does not support the traps received in SNMP v3.

Support for SNMP Tables

The SNMP OI Server supports SNMP table. To advise items in the SNMP table, specify the OID which is unique to each cell in the SNMP table. The OID is a combination of the column number and row index, and follows the syntax below:

Column 1: .1.2.3.1.2.1[1] and .1.2.3.1.2.1[2]

Column 2: .1.2.3.1.2.2[1] and .1.2.3.1.2.2[2]

where,

[1] and [2] are the row numbers.

Hardware Requirements

To run an OI Server, the following hardware configurations are the minimum recommended:

• 2 GHz or faster processor, 32-bit or 64-bit (Intel Itanium processor is not supported)
• RAM: 1 GB or more (512 MB minimum supported but may limit performance and some features)
• At least 8 GB of available hard disk space
• Super VGA (1024 x 768) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
• Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

Installing an OI Server

Installation Checklist

The Wonderware Operations Integration Core (OI Core) must be installed prior to the installation of the OI Server.

Before installing the OI Server, please ensure the following:

• Exit all Wonderware programs, including executable (.exe) files and services
• Un-deploy the platforms where OI Core will be installed
• Disconnect/close all 3rd party OPC clients of existing DAServers/OI Servers
• Deactivate all DAServers/OI Servers

Installation Procedure

Download the OI Server from the Schneider Electric Software Global Customer Support website:

To install the OI Server, double-click Setup-OI-SNMP.msi, and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

The SNMP OI Server documentation set includes the following guides:

• Wonderware Operations Integration - Supervisory SNMP Server help file. This guide describes the user interface and functions of the Wonderware SNMP OI Server.
• Wonderware Operations Integration Server Manager help file. This guide describes the runtime Configuration, Diagnostics, and Activation/Deactivation aspects of a Operations Integration Server (OI Server). These aspects of any OI Server are maintained through the generic component called the OI Server Manager.
• LogFlag Editor User's Guide. This documentation describes the user interface and functions of the LogFlag Editor utility. This utility can be opened only from the Log Viewer, a part of the System Management Console suite of utilities.
• Log Viewer User's Guide. This guide provides information about the Logger™ and the Log Viewer snap-in to the System Management Console.
