New in This Release

This release of the OI Core is an enhancement release, and adds many new features.

Activation-based Licensing Support

With the release of new software that requires activation based licenses, the licensing technology is also updated. The OI Servers operate with both new activation based licensing as well as the existing file based licensing (ArchestrA.lic), to provide compatibility with the latest version of our software, as well as the previously released versions.

If you are installing an OI Servers with existing software, you must use a license that is compatible with the 2014 R2 version.

For additional information about licensing, please see the OI Server Manager Help.

Note: The OI Server Manager supports both ArchestrA licensing (for OI Servers released prior to G 2.0 series) and Activation-Based Licensing (for OI Servers G 2.0 series and later).

Auto-Build Back End Infrastructure Support

The OI Core G-2.0 Series provides a back-end framework for Auto-Build capable OI Servers.

Auto-Build provides engineering efficiency that allows you to read templates and instances in controllers accessed by Auto-Build capable OI Servers. You can replicate these structures in Wonderware Application Server, providing a one-to-one correspondence between the controller and Galaxy objects and tags. The Auto-Build framework is installed as part of the OI Core.

Internet of Things—Tiny Application Support

The OI Core is enabled with the internet of things (IoT) support, with connectivity to various applications. As of the OI Core G-2.0 release, the following OI Servers support up to 32 subscribed references per OI Server ("tiny applications") without requiring a license.

The following servers support "tiny applications":

The following servers are planned for support in future releases:

More OI Core products will support tiny applications in future releases. Please visit the Global Customer Support Dashboard for specific, up-to-date product support information.

DCOM Anonymous Logon Removed

With the upgrade to OI Core G-2.0 Series, the DCOM anonymous logon has been removed, as described:

Installation Checklist

The Wonderware Operations Integration Core (OI Core) must be installed prior to the installation of the OI Server.

Before installing the OI Server, it is strongly recommended that you exit all Wonderware programs, including executable (.EXE) files and services.

Installation Procedure

Download the OI Server from the Schneider Electric Software Global Customer Support website:

https://softwaresupportsp.invensys.com/Pages/NewProductHub.aspx

To install the OI Server, double-click Setup.msi. When setup is complete, the message "Setup was successful" is displayed.

Silent Installation of OI Core

Wonderware Operations Integration - Supervisory Server Manager (G-2.0 Series) supports silent (command line) installation. This features enables non-interactive installation of the OI Core and its prerequisite products.

The prerequisite products that are installed during the silent installation includes:

Silent Installation Syntax:

The basic syntax of the silent installation command consists of the full path to the setup.bat file (typically the DVD drive designation on your local computer), and the command line switch for silent installation/ un-installation.

<DVD>: CD-OIEngine>Setup.bat /<argument>

The usage instructions can be retrieved by the following command line:

<DVD>: CD-OIEngine>Setup.bat /?

The above command line returns the supported operations - install and uninstall. The /install and /uninstall switches completely disable the graphical user interface of Setup.bat. There is no input from or feedback to the end user.

Silent Installation of OI Core

To install the OI Core and the prerequisite products

  1. Open a command prompt using Run as administrator
  2. Run the batch file set up with the /install switch.

    C: CD-OIEngine>Setup.bat /install

  3. Wait for the system to display the confirmation message - Silent installation completed successfully.

Important: Before initiating the silent installation of OI Core, it is strongly recommended that you stop all the DAServers and OI Servers.

Silent Uninstallation of OI Core

To uninstall the OI Core

  1. Open a command prompt using Run as administrator
  2. Run the batch file set up with the /uninstall switch.

    C: CD-OIEngine>Setup.bat /uninstall

  3. Wait for the system to display the confirmation message - Silent uninstallation completed successfully.

Note: The silent uninstallation process uninstalls only the OI Core and the dependent components. All the prerequisites and the independent components should be uninstalled manually.

Resolved Issues

L00137750

When starting an OI Server, a warning message appeared in the Logger citing a "failure to acquire any type of license feature for an OI Server (DAServer)", even though a license existed.

Known Issues

Accessing web help

While accessing the web-help from a node hierarchy/ Auto-Build, the browser prompts to run the ActiveX controls.

As a workaround, click Allow Blocked Content to view the contents of the help page.

Legacy DAServer and OI Server Coexistence

In some scenarios, legacy DAServer and pre-OI Core 2.0 Series OI Servers might have connectivity issues when installed with post-OI Core 2.0 OI Servers.

Scenario 1:

Upgrading to OI Core G-2.0 in an environment with legacy DAServers or pre-OI Core 2.0 Series OI Servers installed is not an issue and requires no additional installation or configuration steps.

Scenario 2:

Installing a legacy DAServer or pre-Core G-2.0 Series OI Server after installing OI Core G-2.0 can result in connectivity issues. These servers require minor configuration changes.

Workaround:

  1. Start dcomcnfg at the Windows Start menu or at the Windows command prompt. The Component Services window appears.
  2. Under Computers\My Computer\DCOM Config, right-click the DAServer to be configured and select Properties. The server Properties dialog appears
  3. On the General tab, change the authentication level from "None" to "Connect" using the Authentication Level list box.
  4. On the Security tab, under Launch and Activation Permissions, select the Custom option, then click Edit The edit dialog appears.
  5. In the edit dialog, under Group or user names, select ANONYMOUS LOGON and click Remove. This removes the Anonymous User.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for Access Permissions on the Security tab.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each server to be reconfigured.
