Install/Upgrade Procedure
Download AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack 2023.1 Patch 02 from the Connectivity Hub section of the Global Customer Support.
Note: AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack is not supported on 32-bit operating systems.
The GCS Connectivity Hub contains the product downloads, documents, and videos.
Note: The downloaded files could be blocked. Since the Windows regards downloaded files as potentially unsafe, it blocks the file from executing after the downloaded. For more information, refer to the Secure SuiteLink Connection section of the AVEVA™ Communication Drivers Pack help.
A reboot may be required to complete the installation process. After the installation, you can see only one component (AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack 2023.1 P02) in the Control Panel. The user interface in the OCMC remains the same.
OPC connectivity, DCOM, Windows Firewall, and Anonymous Access
The Communication Drivers Pack no longer supports Anonymous Login setting in DCOM configuration for OPC connections. In order to ensure proper communication between both nodes, you need to ensure DCOM, Windows Firewall, and user credential settings are configured properly. - AVEVA Enterprise License Manager
- AVEVA Enterprise License Server
Before initiating the silent installation of Drivers Pack, it is strongly recommended that you stop all the DAServers, OI Servers, and Communication Drivers.
Silent Installation Syntax
The basic syntax of the silent installation command consists of the full path to the Silent_Install_Setup.bat file (typically the DVD drive designation on your local computer), and the command line switch.
<DVD>: AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack 2023.1 P02>Silent_Install_Setup.bat /<argument>
The usage instructions can be retrieved by the following command line. It returns the supported operations - install and uninstall.
<DVD>: AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack 2023.1 P02>Silent_Install_Setup.bat /?
To install/uninstall the Communication Drivers Pack
- Open a command prompt using Run as administrator
- Run the batch file set up with the /install or /uninstall switch respectively.
Installation: C: AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack 2023.1 P02>Silent_Install_Setup.bat /install

Issue: AVEVA Edge (InduSoft) drivers components are deleted on upgrade if a higher version Hotfix DLL is installed.
Drivers impacted:
- BACNET
- CODESYS
- MELSEC
- OMRONFINS
- SNMP
- SOMAC
- TI500
- TWINCAT
For example, if a Hotfix DLL patched on a CDP 2023 setup has a file version greater than the version shipped with CDP 2023.1, then the AVEVA Edge driver components do not get upgraded and are deleted.
Work-around: Repair CDP and re-install the Hotfix:
- Deactivate all the activated Communication Drivers and close any running applications.
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Right-click AVEVA Communication Drivers Pack and select Uninstall/Change.
- Select the Repair option.
- Once the repair is completed, re-install the Hotfix DLL.

Issue: On a node that has: (a) any version of System Platform released before SP 2020 R2 SP1 (versions include SP 2017 U3 SP1, SP 2017 U3 SP1 P01, SP 2020 R2, SP 2020 R2 P01, SP 2020 R2 CR1), and (b) CDP2023.1 with PCS 7.0.1 installed, upgrade to a higher System Platform version (excluding SP 2023) fails.
Work-around:
- Undeploy Galaxy.
- Shut down and disable Historian (if installed).
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Uninstall CDP 2023.1 and PCS 7.0.1.
- Upgrade System Platform to the required version.
- Re-install CDP 2023.1 with the required Communication Drivers on the node.
- Ensure Historian is running (if installed).
- Deploy Galaxy.

Issue: Deployment fails on the Galaxy Repository (GR) node when CDP 2023.1 is installed before installing any version of System Platform released prior to SP 2020 R2 SP1 Patch 01.
After all System Platform components are installed, if you modify the CDP 2023.1 setup to install PCS and the PCS plugin, the IDE shuts down when a galaxy is deployed.
Work-around: CDP 2023.1 should be installed only after installing System Platform.
