This document contains important information about AVEVA BI Gateway 2021. Review this document for Product enhancements and new features, system requirements and compatibility, resolved issues and known issues in this version, and the BI Gateway software documentation.
With the release of AVEVA BI Gateway, the following list of new features and enhancements are introduced.
To access the BI Gateway Model Builder using the Firefox browser, you have to make some changes in the browser settings. For more information, refer to the BI Gateway Installation Guide.
Note: If you want to migrate from the earlier versions of Intelligence to AVEVA BI Gateway 2021, you must first upgrade to Intelligence 2017 or Intelligence 2017 Update 1.
Note:
- BI Gateway Analytics Client is shipped with AVEVA BI Gateway.
- BI Gateway Dashboard Server can be downloaded from AVEVA Knowledge and Support Center. For more information on the installation process, refer to https://help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/install.htm.
Limitations for this release:
For important information about AVEVA BI Gateway 2021 product release, see the https://gcsresource.aveva.com/TechnologyMatrix web site for this release. Information on the AVEVA support web site includes product requirements, compatibility, system requirements to install the BI Gateway software. You need to have valid credentials to access the site. You can search for the information by product name and the release/version.
BI Gateway Server Licensing
This release of BI Gateway enforces licensing through the AVEVA Enterprise Licensing system for the BI Gateway and concurrent Dashboard Server add-in.
For more information regarding Licensing, see the AVEVA Enterprise License Server Guide available at the following location in the system where AVEVA Enterprise Licensing is installed: All Programs > AVEVA > Enterprise License Manager User Guide.
NOTE: Make sure that you have a new license to install the BI Gateway software. Only the license for Intelligence 2017 Update 1 works for the AVEVA BI Gateway 2021 release.
BI Gateway Dashboard Server and Analytics Client Licensing (Tableau Components)
The BI Gateway Analytics Client and BI Gateway Dashboard Server versions shipped with BI Gateway are allowed to access data only from the BI Gateway datastore and data sources used in the BI Gateway model (Drill-down scenario, for example). Using the Analytics Client outside of those boundaries is a violation of the license agreement.
The BI Gateway software enforces licensing for the Analytics Client through license keys provided by AVEVA on your license certificate. When you first start the Analytics Client, a software activation window prompts you to enter the license key. The same applies to the Dashboard Server.
NOTE:
- If you already have permanent activation codes for Tableau software, you can use the same activation codes with Tableau OEM 2020.4.2 as long as you have a valid Customer First subscription for BI Gateway.
- Concurrent Licensing is supported on Intelligence 2014 R3 and later versions, and Tableau 2018.1 and later versions.
